Around the Forums – August 2009

Around the Forums: New U.S. forums online

It’s been a busy summer for new neighborhood forums, particularly in St. Paul, Minnesota. Two new forums – Highland Park neighborhood forum, and the Frogtown neighborhood forum – recently started up. Frogtown began in June and now has 165 members; Highland started in July and now has 114 members.

The Frogtown forum outreach efforts were similar to those used to launch the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood forum in Minneapolis, largely because the neighborhood populations are diverse and multi-lingual. For example, efforts were made to identify volunteers to mentor new members and to translate materials/information.

A Northeast Minneapolis neighborhood forum is also set to start up soon. If you are interested in starting a forum in your community, contact us at
